A lot of doctor shows make their mark on TV audiences. I'm a Grey's Anatomy fan but the show has seen its fair share of ups and downs. The mysteriously absent Izzy is making me grow impatient. She is one of the better character's in my opinion.
So, with the Wednesday night schedule wide open these days I've invested some time in Mercy. It's more gritty than Grey's but would most likely be thrown into the dramedy category-because laughter is of course the best medicine. Instead of doctors, the show focuses on nurses. The cast is mostly no names except for Michelle Trachtenburg (of Harriet the Spy Fame). She adds good comic relief. The main character, Veronica, is a female war vet who is having difficulty adjusting to civilian life. For now those are the only characters worth mentioning. There are love triangles, medical mysterious and the usual uber drama not normally acceptable in a workplace.
The show takes place in Jersey City which of course adds to the gritty, tough and and eventful story themes. I didn't start watching the show until I visited a friend in Jersey City and she showed me the hospital where the characters call home.
As if I don't have enough dramatic lives to follow. I'm going to add the cast of Mercy to the list. So far so good.
