Isn't she Precious?

Actually...she is the mother of Precious (aka Gabourey Sidibe). Yes, Alice Tan Ridley, who has been performing in subway tunnels for the past twenty years blew the audience and the judges away last night on America's Got Talent on NBC. Ridley performed a stellar rendition of Etta James' 'At Last'.

AGT is different than these other competition shows because it showcases a plethora of talents including dancers, singers, musicians, magicians, acrobats and the list goes on. It's very much like the Star Search.

Host Nick Cannon is a good time. Although, I could do without the cuts to him standing in the wings grooving to the singers or cheering on the dance troupes. Also, glad 'The Hoff' and Brandy are off the judging panel. Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and Howie Mandel are a good mix.

The show, which originated across the pond thanks to Simon Cowell, is most recognized for launching Susan Boyle into the headlines.
